Reflection Days & Retreats

Reflection Days and Retreats.
Years 7 and 8
Boys in Years 7 and 8 are allocated one reflection day to enhance the boys’ spirituality and faith development. These days reflect our Marist spirituality and are designed to give students the opportunity to connect at a deeper level with the significance of faith in their daily lives.
Year 9
Boys in Year 9 attend CatholicCare Industries for one day during the year with their pastoral groups and teacher. CatholicCare caters for adults with disabilities by providing meaningful and paid employment. Each boy is buddied up with a worker for the day and gains an understanding of the importance of CatholicCare Industries to the lives of those adults struggling to find their place in society.
Year 10
Boys in Year 10 for one day each year are involved in a Reflection Day that caters for students from the local Giant Steps school; a school that caters for children with autism. The students from Giant Steps school are invited to spend the day at St Joseph’s College and are placed in the care of the Year 10 boys. Students elect to provide service through various avenues throughout the day, including; carer, cooking a BBQ and serving lunch, music activities, art, sport etc. Students learn to transcend self and live the Gospel.
Year 11
Boys in Year 11 participate in a three-day senior retreat. This is a sacred time where boys are given the opportunity to deepen their relationship with themselves, others and their God. The retreats are held at various venues around Sydney and are run by staff from St Joseph’s College.
