Sports
at Joeys.
It is College policy for all students to participate in sport during the year. If medical reasons exist that prohibit a boy’s participation, a letter from his doctor needs to be forwarded to the Director of Sport and Co-Curriculum. In such cases, the student will still be part of a team/crew as a manager.

Sports offered:
AAGPS Competition
St Joseph’s College participates in the Sydney Athletic Association of the Great Public Schools (AAGPS) sports competitions. Other schools involved are Sydney Boys High, Sydney Grammar, Saint Ignatius’ College, The King’s School, The Shore School, The Scots College, Newington College and The Armidale School. The fixtures for St Joseph’s are listed in the College calendar and details are available on the website each Thursday for the following weekend:
Summer Sport
The summer sports program operates in Terms 1, 3 and 4. The summer sports are:
Cricket
Tennis
Basketball
Swimming
Water polo
Golf (Years 11 and 12)
Rowing (Years 8 to 12)
Surf lifesaving (Years 10 to 12)Winter Sports
The winter sports program operates during late Terms 1 and 2 and early Term 3.
The winter competition sports are:

AFL (subject to numbers)
Tennis
Golf (Years 11 and 12)
Cross country.Trial games are held in Terms 1 and 2. Football, rugby and cross country competitions are held in Terms 2 and 3.Athletics
Part-time athletics training is held during Terms 1 and 4 and full-time athletics training begins at the end of the winter sports season in Term 3. The College participates in several invitation carnivals in preparation for the AAGPS carnival, held on a Saturday in Term 3.
Internal Sport
All boys are involved in the College swimming carnival in Term 4 and the College athletics carnival in Term 1. These dates are shown in the College calendar.

These should not be purchased until after your son has commenced at the College and is confirmed in a sport.
