HSC Exam: There are 2 papers.
Paper 1: 1 hour and 30 minutes working time plus 10 minutes reading time.
Paper 1 covers the Common Module – Texts and Human Experiences.
It is worth 40 marks
Reading Task (20 marks)
Extended Response on the Prescribed Text (20 marks).
Paper 2: 2 hours working time plus 5 minutes reading time.
Paper 2 covers Modules A, B and C and is worth 60 marks, with each module requiring an Extended Response worth 20 marks each.

The English Advanced course is designed for students who have a particular interest and ability in the subject and who desire to engage with challenging learning experiences that will enrich their personal, intellectual, academic, social and vocational lives.
Prerequisites
Year 10 English, Consistent A or B grades in Junior English, consistent achievement of marks in the 80%+ range

- Two additional modules: Critical Study of Literature, and Narratives that Shape our World
Year 12 - HSC Course
- Common Module: Texts and Human Experiences
- Three additional modules that emphasise particular aspects of shaping meaning and representation, questions of textual integrity and ways in which texts are valued.
