Nature of subject: Industrial Technology is a practical based course where students can focus on one specific field in either; Timber, Metal or Engineering. Students who elect this course should only cover One field. Students best suited to this course should have interest and ability in workshop processes, strong organisation skills to independently manage projects and good problem solving skills. A substantial portfolio and extended use of Autodesk Fusion accompanies each practical task.
Major Work:
In Semester Two of the year 10 course students have the opportunity to explore a project addressing individual interests within a given area forming a major contribution to course assessment.
Why study this subject?
This course suits students more interested in developing skills within a specific area which would traditionally lead towards apprenticeships in Timber/Metal careers or for just life long learning. The Engineering field provides a springboard to the Stage 6 Engineering course addressing numerous elements and practical experiences establishing a strong foundation of concepts.
