Graphics Technology is a hands on specialist drawing course which develops in students an understanding of the significance of graphical communication and the techniques used to convey technical and non-technical ideas and information.
Students learn about the application of these techniques and technologies in industrial, commercial and domestic contexts.
Major Work:
The course is broken down into specific focus units targeting identified areas in graphical communication.
Students will typically need to submit a set of drawings and/or 3d model representations for assessment, these may include Product Design, Architectural and Fashion items.
Why study this subject?
This course is designed to benefit students with career interests in Design, Trades, Engineering and Architecture providing an essential grounding to further studies in all TAS courses leading up to the HSC.
Historically, students who have included Graphics Technology in their Stage 5 electives are at an advantage heading into Stage 6. This course will empower students to analyse, interpret, construct technical and graphical drawings to a high standard whilst working to AS1100 industry standards.
