HSC Exam: 3 hours

Assessments:

  • In Year 11 there is one formal examination which is 1-2 hours in duration (in total there are 3 Assessment tasks across the 3 terms including the exam). Example could involve analysing sports such as Marathons, 100m Sprints, Tour De France Cycling in terms of Energy Systems, Body Systems and Training Methods
  • In Year 12 formal examinations in both the Trials and HSC examinations are 3 hours in duration. Other assessment tasks could incorporate examining the training and planning considerations for improving performance in elite athletes.
  • Assessments tasks are both individual and collaborative and could include research, portfolios, speeches, interpretation of practical scenarios and in class written tasks.

  • This course is designed to develop the capacity to think critically about key issues related to health and physical activity in order to make informed decisions that support and contribute to healthy, active lifestyles and communities.
  • Health & Movement Science (PDHPE) is the 5th most popular elective in NSW with 17894 students selecting it in the 2021 HSC.

Prerequisities
  • There are no defined prerequisites however having studied PASS in Years 9 & 10 is beneficial as a foundation to 2 unit Health & Movement Science (PDHPE)
